Ø USA proved BC & BS was ripping off Seniors with overcharges on Medigap policies. The State ordered the Blues to reimburse Seniors $9 million.

Ø USA helped create ConnPACE, which provides discounted prescriptions to low-income Seniors. USA then helped win an annual increase in the ConnPACE income guidelines.

Ø USA was the first Senior organization in Connecticut to fight for Mandatory Medicare Assignment, which puts more than $25 million in Seniors’ pockets every year. USA also successfully fought for legislation requiring doctors to do the paperwork.

Ø USA won community rating for all Medicgap policies sold in Connecticut. This USA campaign involved thousands of Seniors 

 and hundreds of Senior groups throughout the state.

Ø USA’s demand for consumer protections for seniors in Medicare managed care plans resulted in the passage of Bill #558 mandating the creation and distribution of an “HMO Report Card.”
